Alumni Spotlight

After graduating High School in upstate Michigan, Megan Rourk decided she had enough of small town living, and enrolled at the University of Michigan. She began college as a Business major, but after volunteering at a local hospital, she discovered her passion for science.

When looking for a summer program, Megan was searching for something both challenging and rewarding, she thought that being able to work in Biomedical Research would allow her prepare for a career in medicine or science.  Megan says that the FDSRP “made me believe that I can achieve anything if I work hard!” and to always strive for that next great job or internship.

Due to her passion for science and nature, Megan changed majors to the Program in the Environment; which is comprised of a unique mix of environmental and traditional science based courses.  She recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science, and is currently working for Teach for America. Megan’s plans for the future include continuing her education in medical school.
